Le Vauclin is a fishing village located in the southeast of Martinique. It is also the first fishing port on the island, and one of the last lands of Martinique to be colonized by the French. The majority of the towns surrounding Vauclin are within a perimeter of 5 to 10 km maximum. This is the case for an example of the following cities:
The name of the town comes from the Comte de Vauquelin, who strongly participated in the construction of the town’s parish.
The city being relatively isolated, its economy is mainly based on fishing and tourism. This became stronger after the cessation of the town’s only sugar factory in 1941. The Vauclin is home to a famous fish market, with a variety of fish to enjoy, to satisfy all tastes. The whole visit can last one day, if you choose to stop and taste the typical dishes of the place.
Vauclin is full of places to visit of great tourist interest and bewitching beaches, including Grand Macabou, Petit Macabou, Anse Grosse Roche or Pointe chaudière. Finally, there is also Pointe Faula, a charming place, ideal for swimming.
