Case-Pilote is a city located in Martinique, on the road linking Fort de France and Saint-Pierre. More precisely, the city is about 17 kilometers from the capital. The town is thus at the foot of the southern slope of the Pitons du Carbet.
Case-Pilote, as a compound name, has its origin in two different elements: firstly Case, to allude to the rudimentary dwellings in the former colonies, and Pilote, a nickname given by the French to a Caribbean chief who had already resided on this territory, in 1635, when the French arrived. This fishing village, whose main economic activity is none other than fishing, is one of the oldest towns on the island.
This small destination is home to a few places to explore that retrace its history through the years. One example is its picturesque stone church, Notre Dame de l’Assomption-et-Saint-Joseph built during the 17th century, which is one of the oldest in Martinique. This unmissable site has also been classified as a Historic Monument since 1979.
Place Gaston-Monerville is witness to the history of Case-Pilote, with its beautiful fountain.
Know that the area is not a tourist region in itself, but if you are looking for calm and serenity, this small fishing village in the Caribbean is for you.
Case-Pilote is a town that nature has spoiled well. It shelters Piton Lacroix, one of the most important mountain tops of the city, next to Morne vente.
The peninsula of Cap Enrage also invites you to an escapade, whose watchwords are: relaxation and wonder.
