Fonds-Saint-Denis is located on the Caribbean coast, at 400 m altitude from the first slopes of the Pitons du Carbet and Saint Pierre. This village is located near Montagne-Pelée. The commune of Fonds-Saint-Denis is a recent place and one of the least populated of Martinique.

In 1850, on the occasion of the construction of the road linking Fort-de-France to Saint Pierre, the government created the village by popular demand. Fonds Saint Denis represents the most flowery village of Martinique despite the fact that the village does not have beaches or very high rainfall. You will see the tropical rainforest as well as historical monuments that are the pride of the local population such as the Marian cave. A place where nature and human creation come together.

The cave is a place of worship for religious people and fans of the art of carving Christian statues. You will also find the Chabert dwelling that witnessed the natural disaster of 1902. The owner Odilon Darssiers became famous by saving his family from the disaster and by writing the book “La catastrophe de la Martinique”.

Don’t hesitate to visit Fonds-Saint-Denis, it has all the necessary attributes to make your trip an unforgettable one.
