Overview

Built in 1933, bordering the Petite Lézarde River, the Gros Morne hydroelectric mill draws its water from the river to produce electricity. It is one of the only active hydroelectric mills in the Caribbean.
The Gros Morne mill site produces and transforms into flour cassava, toloman, yam, coconut, breadfruit, sweet potatoes and bananas (all our flours are gluten-free).


The Hydroelectric Mill is waiting for you! 

The Mill welcomes you from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. At your arrival, a welcome drink will be offered to you with home made toloman tea. Then, you will be taken to the mill for a visit of the site, where you will be told
its history, its operation, but also the detailed explanation of the manufacture of local flour without gluten.
Afterwards, you will be offered different activities, namely :

  • The initiation to crayfish fishing with cuddles (an tan lontan), 
  • The manufacture of different flours according to the harvest of the day (i.e. the washing,
  • The peeling, the grating, the pressing, the sifting, the cooking and the sifting),
  • The visit of our small farm, or kayaking on the river.


Our rates :

  • For the visit: 3 € per child & 6 € per adult.
  • For the visit with activities: 12 € per person. (+2 € for the kayak)
  • For the visit with activities and lunch: 25 € per child (-12ans) & 38 € per adult.

The lunch includes a starter, a hot dish, a dessert, an aperitif and a non-alcoholic drink.

Duration:

  • The visit plus product presentation lasts approximately 1 hour
  • the visit with activities lasts approximately 5 h
