On the way, you will be able to admire the balisiers, hibiscus, tree ferns and bromeliads. It is forbidden to swim at the hidden waterfall of Ravine Baron. The last bad weather caused several damages. However, you will be able to admire the landscape from closer, the place is ideal to take some pictures.
After the small visit of the hidden waterfall of the Ravine Baron, continue straight towards the Absalon waterfall. Although the place has not been maintained for years, you will find a nice bath behind the spa. You can enjoy the hot water while admiring one of the most panoramic views of Martinique.
Although the site has been abandoned for years, tourists still visit the Absalon waterfall. So think of leaving very early in the morning to avoid traffic jams and enjoy the place. The path is not very difficult to walk, however the rocks are very slippery. Think of taking with you adequate shoes.
It would be wise to check the weather forecast before heading out. Heavy weather can make the trip very muddy. Remember to take a mosquito repellent with you and hydrate yourself on the way. The trip takes approximately 3 hours. Unfortunately, the site is not suitable for people with reduced mobility and small children.
The Absalon waterfall is 1 h 30 from Fort-de-France. You just have to take the RN3 to Morne Rouge. On the way, you can visit the beautiful Balata botanical garden. After the Balata garden, take the road to the left which will lead you to the D60. Continue straight ahead until you reach the building, you will find a small parking lot to park your car.Despite the abandonment of the maintenance of the Absalon waterfall, it remains a must-see place in Martinique. Thanks to its wild tropical natural wealth, it remains a tourist place to visit without any hesitation.
