Today, we take you on a discovery tour of Sainte-Luce, an ideal destination for those who love idleness, nature or heritage (or a little of everything at once!). Saint-Luce is ideally located on the south coast of the island, on the edge of the Caribbean Sea, between Le Marin and Le Diamant. It is a pretty fishing village that has managed to preserve its authenticity despite its great economic and tourist development in recent years.

Imagine beautiful colorful huts along a white sandy beach and fishing boats floating on the turquoise water. If you like coastal scenery, you won’t be disappointed! The stroll along the coast is particularly beautiful, skirting pretty beaches as far as the cove of the Trois Rivières. Sainte-Luce is also a very lively town, day and night. Paradise beaches…

Sainte-Luce is a town famous for its many beaches, each one more beautiful than the other. The perfect opportunity to enjoy postcard landscapes and a good swim in the waters of the Caribbean Sea. According to your desires of the moment, whether you are with family, couple or friends, you will be able to quickly access six different beaches. Each one has its own charm…

L’Anse Corps de Garde is a good option for families and outings with friends. It is a lively beach with a nautical center. The beach is well equipped with volleyball courts, snack bars and restaurants, showers and a large parking lot.

L’Anse Pont Café is ideal for those who love sports activities at the beach. It is a nautical base close to the Pierre & Vacances residence. On the program: jet-ski, pedal boat, kayak, large inflatable buoys and many others.

Lovers of quieter beaches and idleness will rather find their happiness at the Fond Banane beach. This cove is much quieter and its view of the Diamond Rock is worth the detour!

Mabouya Cove, further north, is another quiet beach not much frequented by tourists. On the other hand, it is much appreciated by the inhabitants of the commune who often organize picnics there.

Finally, the Desert beach is surely one of the prettiest. Fine and white sand, turquoise water, little frequented, it’s the postcard beach! It has moreover the particularity to have rocks which form small paddling pools to swim. The beach is a little more frequented on weekends by families.

The forest of Montravail

Indeed, the Montravail forest offers superb hikes, in a lush setting, to discover the local fauna and flora. You will be able to admire many species of tropical trees such as the white wood, the river wood or the cheese maker.
A stroll in Montravail is ideal if you are looking for a bit of freshness. The forest is about 75 hectares and is located 250 meters above sea level. There are several trails, of all levels of difficulty, to discover the tropical vegetation of the forest. There is the forest road or 4 loops between 1 and 4 km long.

You will pass through small ravines, steep slopes and will be able to enjoy from time to time superb views of the island of Saint Lucia and the Diamond Rock. Whichever route you choose, there is no risk of getting lost, they are all well-marked.

Marked trail

If you are looking for another beautiful walk in nature, we advise you to take the marked path between Gros Raisin Cove and Desert Cove. This 5 km marked path runs along part of the Sainte-Luce coastline and is the perfect place for a walk or a little jogging!

From Sainte-Luce, you will be able to admire the famous Diamond Rock which rises above the sea. Its shape and its faces that shine in the sun at certain hours have earned it this pretty name. The Diamond Rock is the vestige of an ancient volcano. It is one of the emblematic places of the island.

Culture & Heritage

Sainte-Luce owes its development and renown in part to the former Trois Rivières distillery, which is now a museum. We strongly advise you to visit it!

Guided tours are organized from Monday to Saturday. You will be able to discover the vast sugar cane plantations, the old installations related to the production of rum and the famous windmill. The old production site is very well arranged and developed.

Thanks to the guide’s information, you will know everything about the history of the Domaine which dates back to the 17th century! You will discover all the manufacturing secrets of Trois Rivières rum.

If you are sensitive to the heritage of Martinique, we recommend this visit. At the end of the visit, you will of course be able to enjoy a moment of tasting of the different rums of the brand. And don’t miss the Maison du Coco in the heart of the distillery. This is a Creole hut where you will find crafts made from coconuts, sweets, coconut punch and coconut ice cream. A real treat !
